Richard is a Brisbane/Gold Coast based freelance cinematographer and colourist with 17 years of experience in the broadcasting and filmmaking industry. He has worked across Southern Africa, Europe and Australia.
After completing a degree in Film and Television Production Management in 2006 in South Africa, he began his career at a television commercial production house. Over his career he has worked in numerous roles across the production chain. His love for camera work arose when he took the opportunity to film a monthly television sports documentary. After three years of shooting these documentaries, he was hooked, and his obsession for crafting meaningful images began to take hold.
Before moving to Australia with his wife in 2017 he ran the video production team at a content marketing agency in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Richard works closely with his directors in developing each story’s visual language. Pulling from his extensive previous experience as a director, producer and editor, he has a solid foundation that supports his decision making as a cinematographer and colourist.
